The Production

On the 23rd of October we did our school production. We did loads of different acts and the theme was nursery rhymes. Our class were zombies we had white talcum powder all over our faces dark black eyes and the blackest black on our lips. Our costumes were T-shirts, track pants and sneakers.

Our hair was wild. I've already done a post on my hair but if you missed it my mum teased it like there was no tomorrow and I looked like Frankenstein wife.

We had to put baby powder in our hair and it got more in my eyes than in my hair. My eyes were watering like a waterfall.

I loved the production. It was amazing but when I walked on stage I felt like I was going to faint. I saw 900 faces in the distance and I was freaking out. Then I spotted Mrs Perry and my nerves started to ease.

When It was finished I let out a huge sigh of relief. Then I waited ages till I finally found my mum. I jumped down from the huge stage and squeezed my way through the crowds of pushing and shoving people. When we got outside we both ran to the car and jumped in. When we got home I ran to the bathroom and started scrubbing my make up off and the cloth was black by the time I finished.

I loved the production - it was really fun and I am looking forward to further productions at Intermediate and at High School.

Production dress rehearsal

Ow ow ow! MUM! I screamed as she was teasing my hair like there was no tomorrow." I am a zombie in the production Mum, not Frankenstein" I said angrily. My head looked like a balloon. When I got to school it was like a zombie apocalypse, there were zombies basically everywhere. We finally got our make up done and we had loads of moisturizer on our faces then they slopped talcum powder all over our faces. Then dark black stage makeup over our eyes. When my make up was done I looked so creepy. We also had black eyeliner on our lips. The eyeliner felt like chalk on my lips.  We went through the whole production then we had lunch.

My Koru Art

This is my Koru art. A koru represents New Zealand culture and our inspiration was Raewyn Harris. She does all sorts of koru art and other art. I like her art and most of her art is very seasonal. A koru is also known as a new beginning. I like all the colours that I used. I think they are like spring colours. I liked doing blending but my fingers were really sore and colourful.

What I am looking forward to in term three.

The first thing I am looking forward to is the production because the theme is nursery rhymes and our class gets to do the zombie shuffle. One of the groups is the army of zombies.
The second thing I am looking forward to is cross country because I am hoping to get higher number then I was last year and change my running style.
I am also looking forward to the fun day at the end of the term because we always have so much fun at do lots of exciting activities like electronics, dress up, baking, games and movies.

Winter Road Patrol Mornings

The cold breeze sweeps across my warm face. My spine starts to shiver frantically. I zip up my warm puffy heater and sigh with relief. I grab the frozen sign and quiver slightly. Then finally it's over, now the delightful time where we get our hot chocolate. I put the warm cup against my icy lips and wait for the stinging chocolate sensation. It burns sweetly then it goes down my frozen throat.

Survival Swimming

On the 27th of June Room 3 and a few people from room 1 went to Onekawa Pools for survival swimming the activity's we did were
life jacket activity's, non contact saving, contact saving, swimming two lengths in our clothes and free swim. When swimming in our clothes it was very difficult because i have never swam in my clothes it was sucking me down then, after we finished we had to then take our clothes off. Luckily we had our togs underneath. I really enjoyed the day because we swam basically all day and I love swimming .

The Faraday Centre

Last week Room 3 went to the Faraday Centre to learn about forces. I learnt that if you rub carpet and carpet together it makes friction. I also learnt that if you have one person on the very end of one side of a seesaw, and three people near the middle makes the three people go up and the one person goes down. There was also a big wind machine and when you turn it on you can measure the speed that the wind is going it was going over 100 km per hour.

There were lots of old washing machines  that had two little pole things that squeezed all the water out of the clothes that made them dry. There was also a sultana shaker which cleans all the sultanas. There were old telephones with little holes and the number under the holes and you have to put one finger in the hole and put turn it to the other side and you do that the whole time until you finished the phone number and you could call people all around the Faraday Centre.

What I enjoyed in term one

Hi I'm Kayra
In Term 1 I have enjoyed  Stoney Creek Camp, volleyball, Art deco day and swimming sports. The things I enjoyed at camp were low ropes, BMX bike riding and jump jam. The things I have learnt at volleyball were the dig, serve and the set. on Art Deco day I did enjoy dressing up in my little white dress with a blue and white hat and white gloves. I also enjoyed s having a picnic by Marine Parade. The things I enjoyed at swimming sports were coming 3rd in my breast stroke and having a free swim with all my friends.
