Time To Start

Wee Willie Winkie calls the town  in.
'1 minute guys!' said Mrs Floden.
It was Wednesday night. Almost 7:00. Almost time to start the production. I was first on and I was getting goose bumps. What if I mucked up? What if I said the wrong line? All these thoughts were making me nervous.
'Okay guys, in positions!'
No. I'm not ready! I'm not ready! But I had to. I was standing on the stage, I had my costume and I knew my lines. It was now or never.
I could see Mrs Bauerfeind at the side of the stage. She started pulling the curtain up. Slowly. Slowly. Then 'BOOM'. I could see every face just looking at us. I couldn't stop smiling at how many people showed up to watch us, but Owl enters, says her line and the music starts. 'ONCE UPON A TIME.' As soon as the song finishes Owl says her second line and then it's my turn to call everyone in. Peter Piper says her line to start. Then it's Tucker. Then Spruika. Then me. I walk forward to the middle and say my line as I go.
'See saw at Margery Daws. See saw at Margery Daws.' My costumers come forward. I give them their toy windmills and walk to my second spot.  I said to myself, Yes! I did it! I did it!

Koru Art

For the past few weeks, in room 3, with Mrs Perry, we have been doing Koru art. We used many materials such as: paper, glue, pencil, vivid, pen, scissors and pastels. We got inspiration from my sister Laina and Raewyn Harris.  I wanted to do something a bit similar to my sisters. I did a round shape with leaves on the outside with four korus in the inside. I did the leaves green, the korus purple and the rest of it is just blue getting lighter and lighter. The koru represents New Zealand and it's Maori culture. The koru is the meaning of a new beginning. I think I did really well with my art and I am very proud of it. I also got to learn about the korus meaning all through out the sessions. It was really fun and I would love to do it again. :)

Cross Country

A few weeks ago we started our school cross country training. We do circuit training, shuttle runs, fartlek training and school runs.
In circuit training we do a mix of things to improve our stamina, speed and strength.
In shuttles we run back and forth across the court for a whole minute. I usually do thirteen or fourteen.
In fartlek you ran around the fields but when you get to a cone you sprint to the next.
In the school runs you just run all around the school and get a dot when we pass Miss Cuthbert.
I have really enjoyed doing training because I have got a lot better at my running. I think the best part about my run is that I am always able to give a great sprint at the end and I can always keep a steady pass all the way through. I am really looking forward to the actual cross country run because it is only in two more weeks and it is only two days before my birthday. Wish me good luck. :)

Fun Friday

SLLIIIPPP! I suddenly skidded into the splits position on the slippery mat. I was playing Twister with Maddy, Cate, Ava, Ella M and Emily T. It was only me and Madeline the end but as soon as I slipped and I landed, I had lost. We were going to play another game but the bell rang for morning tea. It felt like two bells were banging and bashing each other in my ears. BANG, BASH, BANG, BASH. The teacher came out to tell us to come inside. Once we were in the class and we were sitting in our seats she started telling us about what we were going to do after morning tea. The basketball people had to go to the basketball meeting and once we had finished we had to run back to start our pizza. I was making a pizza with Ava and Maddy. We were having pizza sauce for the base. Cheese, chicken, bacon strips and pineapple on top. Maddy had olives on hers. In the end we had to eat our pizza when we were monitoring. It was good getting our pizza but bad eating in front of people. It was a perfect fun Friday.

BP Technology

Each year Mrs Bauerfeind chooses some children to compete in the BP Technology challenge and I got chosen. We meet every Friday in the hall at 1:40.
For the first activity we had to make a stand. Mine wasn't that high. For the second activity we had to make an aircraft. We weren't allowed to use a normal paper dart so I used my straws to make my wings and for our third one that we have to make, we had to make a roller coaster. Mine was successful only next time I'm going to make mine longer. The roller coaster is probably one of the hardest things that we have had to make.
Now we have to make something that's a bit like a fishing rod. It has to reach over a string that's 1.5 metres high. Once it get's over it has to hook onto a bottle that is 1/3 full of rice. The least time wins but if  the string on your rod touches the string wall, 20 seconds will be added on to your score. This challenge will definitely  be the hardest.

Kensukes Kingdom: The Jellyfish Scene

My Term 1 Goals

1. Camp.
I think I did very well because I persevered in all the activities and was ready the day before.
2. Rocket Maths.
I think I have done alright because I have reached burner 44. I will keep practicing until I get up to burner 48.
3. Reading.
I think I have achieved my goal because I have red at least 10 books this term and I was only meant to read 5.

My First Camp!

"Yes!" I said. "My first camp. I can't wait."
"Wow! This place is awesome!"
"Welcome to Stoney Creek Ranch. We are going to have a lot of fun together. I'm just going to get you to meet all of our staff members."
"Ok. Well first of all, I'm Jewels. I am, well, the boss I guess. I am in charge of the commando course and the rock climbing wall. This is Mark. He's in charge of the low ropes and is also a chef.(He can be a bit silly sometimes.) This is Pearl. She will be in charge of the archery, shooting and BMX bikes. Jeff here will be showing you how to ride the mini motorbikes later on in the week and this is Robin. She is our number 1 chef."
"Woof!Woof!"
"Oh and this is Wags. He's our favorite dog."
"You have more than one dog?"
"No."
"Would you like to show us around the camp site?"
"OK. Just follow me folks."
"This is the archery and shooting unit that Pearl will be holding."
"Wow! I can't wait to shoot my first gun."
